I’ve been busy with a lot of things lately. Most of all, my evenings and weekends are occupied by my effort to raise funds for Myanmar.
During the last two months, my friend and I have been engaging in a fundraising movement, which we named as “Rise and Shine with Freedom”. This is after we’ve come to realize that Myanmar is in for the long haul as far as her path to freedom and democracy are concerned, and that one time donations are not going to be sufficient to help alleviate those suffering under the military rule. Burmese economy is on the brink of collapse with banking crisis, market crisis, housing crisis. The civilians taking part in Civil Disobedience Movement to protest the military takeover are running out of funds, and some have been kicked out of their homes. Thousands of ethnic Myanmar have been displaced from their homes due to the military assaults. Scattered news of bombing in urban areas have made the markets unstable, pushing high prices on commodities. In short, people are suffering, and we needed a way to support them as long as they need. Hence, we founded Rise and Shine with Freedom.
Rise and Shine with Freedom offers products — T-shirts, coffee mugs, Hoodies, Totes — featuring art for Myanmar. The business goes like this: artists generously donate their talent and work to us; with love and care, we curate and design the products showcasing their art; we sell the products via our website: www.riseandshindwithfreedom.com and ship the products to our customers based in USA, UK, Canada, and Australia. 100% of profit from sales are donated to organizations — from medicinal support to Mandalay medical team, Mutual Aid Myanmar and “Help People in Need” via UK fundraisers. We freely give our time and effort to this cause, without charge. We don’t pay anything back to us. We continuously seek out new art, new designs, and create new products to offer.
